First Place Scratch - $2,000 Scholarship (based on 80 entries)
First Place Handicap - $750 Scholarship (based on 45 entries
Handicap division entrants MUST have competed in a minimum of two JBT events in the 2018-19 season prior to the date of the tournament. There is no tournament minimum requirement for the scratch division.
FORMAT
All entrants will bowl 8 games of SUPER Match-Play
Bowlers will receive a ten pin bonus for EACH bowler he/she defeats in each game
16 scratch bowlers advance to finals; top 40% of handicap field advances to finals
Scratch Division entry fee - $120 Handicap Division entry fee - $90
(entry fee paid after March 15 is $130 for the scratch division and $100 for the handicap division)
Scholarship prizes will be awarded in a one-in-five ratio
RULES
SUPER MATCH-PLAY QUALIFYING ROUND (begins at 2:00 A.M. on Sunday, March 17, 2019)
All entrants will bowl eight games. In each game, all bowlers will be competing against ALL of the other bowlers in their division. Bowlers will receive a ten pin bonus for each bowler he/she defeats, and a five pin bonus for a tie.
Example: If there are 60 bowlers in the Super Match-Play round, the bowler who rolls the highest score will "win" 59 matches and receive 590 bonus pins, the second highest bowler will receive 580 bonus pins, etc.
In the handicap division, 100% of the difference between the bowler's average and 200 will be added to each game. Handicap division bowlers MUST have competed in a minimum of TWO Junior Bowlers Tour tournaments during the 2018-19 season prior to this event or they WILL NOT be permitted to bowl in the handicap division of this tournament
The top 16 scratch bowlers and the top 40% of the handicap division entrants (up to a maximum of 16 bowlers) will advance to the finals, which will immediately follow the qualifying round.
The tournament is open to all male and female bowlers, 21 years of age or less as of August 1, 2018. Bowlers may choose to compete in either the scratch or the handicap division. Entry fee is $120 per bowler in the scratch division ($40 bowling and expenses, $80 prize fund). Entry fee is $90 per bowler in the handicap division ($40 bowling and expenses, $50 prize fund). PBA members are not permitted to bowl in this event.
There will be at least one scholarship prize awarded for each five participants. Scholarship prizes may be claimed after the student/bowler has completed at least one semester of college with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0. Prizes may also be used for trade schools and/or other continuing education after graduation from high school.
Proper dress and behavior is expected of all participants. Bowlers are not permitted to wear hats, tank tops, clothing with offensive language or graphics, or any apparel which the tournament director feels is inappropriate. Smoking is not permitted at any time. Bowlers who use foul language, obscene gestures or abuse equipment will be subject to disqualification, as determined by the tournament director.
All rules not specifically covered will be governed by the rules of the Junior Bowlers Tour. The tournament director reserves all rights regarding all rules and tournament operation.
SCRATCH DIVISION FINALS
Match 1: The sixteen finalists will be paired to form eight one-on-one matches (see below for pairing rules). The winner of each of these matches will advance to Match Two
Match 2: The eight remaining bowlers will be paired to form four one-on-one matches. The winner of each of these matches will advance to Match Three.
Match 3: The four remaining bowlers will be paired to form two one-on-one matches. The winner of each of these matches will advance to the Championship Match.
CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: The two remaining bowlers will bowl the final match to determine the champion.
HANDICAP DIVISION FINALS
Matches will be set up similar to the scratch division, however if there are less than 16 handicap finalists, byes will be needed in the first round of matches. Any byes that are necessary will be given to the bowlers with the highest 8-game qualifying totals.
MATCH PAIRINGS: In all rounds, the highest seeded remaining bowler will face the lowest seeded bowler remaining in competition. In the first two rounds of matches, the higher seeded bowler must win one game to win the match and advance to the next match; the lower seeded bowler must win two consecutive games to win the match and advance to the next round. In the third and fourth round of matches, one game will be bowled to determine the winner of each match. Bowlers eliminated in the same round of the finals will be placed in the standings based on their 8-game qualifying total to determine scholarship winnings.

OPTIONAL EVENTS AWARDING ADDITIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PRIZES (all events offered in scratch & handicap divisions)
REALLY BIG BRACKET - Gigantic bracket using scores from Games 1 through 8. The top scholarship prize will be at least $100 in each division. One scholarship prize will be awarded for every eight entries in each division.
HIGH GAMES PRIZES - Prizes will be awarded for the high game in each gameof the eight-game qualifying round. Multiple prizes may be awarded each game, depending on the number of entries.
SCHOLAR DOLLAR ROLL-OFF - Beginning in Game Two, tournament scores will be used to determine which bowlers remain in Scholar Dollar competition. 70% of each division advances after each game.
It is strongly recommended that entry fees for optional events be paid along with tournament entry fee. Some optional events may be full prior to the date of the tournament.
